An evening fire-side gathering for women, trans, and non-binary makers

Join us for a relaxed evening around the fire at the Sylva Wood Centre’s forest school site (weather permitting) on 10th June 2025, from 6:00PM onwards.

This informal gathering is for anyone from underrepresented genders working in (or curious about) furniture making. A safe space to connect, share experiences, offer support, and build a stronger sense of community across the sector.

Whether you’re looking for advice, want to chat about your creative process, or simply fancy a hangout with like-minded people—you’re warmly welcome.

What to expect:
– Fire-side chats & warm connections
– Space to share experiences, struggles, and wins
– Hot/cold non-alcoholic drinks and snacks
– Optional: bring a dish to share (potluck style!) – we’ll provide crockery and cutlery
– Kids (or other dependents), projects in progress, and stories welcome!

Time: 6PM – 8PM —giving folks time to finish work, do the school run, grab dinner, or just breathe.

Free to attend: Donations are welcome to help cover snacks and drinks.
Location: Sylva Wood Centre, Forest School Site, Long Wittenham OX14 4QT
Book your ticket: Follow this link – let us know if you’re bringing something for the potluck so we can coordinate!

This is the first of what we hope will become a series of regular gatherings across the UK—creating space for connection, inspiration, and collective care in our craft communities.

We can’t wait to meet you!
